Help for dry mouth and nose

August 28, 2002

Dear Allergy Nurse
Dear Allergy Nurse
Without the antihistamines, I'm miserable. With them, my mouth is so dry!

I hear this complaint frequently from allergy sufferers. I want to tell you about some of the products that are used for this:

The physician I work for often recommends saline nasal sprays for dry nasal passages. He also frequently recommends a waterpik with a nasal attachment.

Humidifiers and facial saunas can also help. Humidifiers should be used with caution when mold is a problem. Use a small personal humidifier only, rather than a system built into your heat and air-conditioning system. Run it only at night. These measures will help guard against mold.

National Allergy Supply has a whole page dedicated to products like these that can help you combat dryness. See their Sinus Relief page.
